Yanks’ stock falls in 2010 opener

This is a World Champion?

How did it look at about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday night? Dreamy, if you’re a Yankees fan. New York had silenced the Fenway Park crowd by taking a 5-1 lead and running up Josh Beckett’s pitch count. Curtis Granderson hit a homer in his first regular season at-bat for New York. Life is sweet for NY’ers, right?

Not by game end. The Yanks coughed up the lead and then catcher Jorge Posada badly misplayed a pitch, allowing the Sox to take the lead on a passed ball. The Boston crowd grew louder. The dream became a nightmare for the Yanks fans.

It’s just one game. But it was a pleasure.
